The first World Cup was in 1930, in Uruguay.
13 countries played in the fisrt World Cup. Now there are 32 countries in the
competition.
Until 2002, the World Cup was always in an European or American country.
South Korea and Japan held the First Assian World Cup. The first African World
Cup was in South Africa in 2010.
Brazil is the most successful Cup team, with five tournaments. Germany and
Italy have both four times. Argentina and Uruguay won it twice. England,
France and Spain woin it once.
